POCATELLO — A new South Fourth Avenue restaurant will be open to both night owls and early risers who are craving a taste of authentic Mexican food.

Victor Guillen owns the new restaurant called Birrieria El Antojo with various members of his family. It is located at 408 S. Fourth Ave. in Pocatello and it offers 24-hour service to its customers.

“We opened it because we wanted to bring good food to Idaho,” Guillen said.

Guillen and his family have worked in other restaurants before, and they wanted to be able to own and operate their own. They found the right location here in Pocatello.

“We came here to look for a place to open our restaurant,” Guillen said. “We found it in Pocatello. I’m so excited.”

So far, the community has shown interest in Birrieria El Antojo. People especially like that it is open 24 hours a day since there are not a lot of places in Pocatello that are open that long.

“A lot of people say that the food is good,” Guillen said. “They like that it is open 24 hours. They are happy with the service.”

Guillen is excited to be in Pocatello because he gets to meet so many new people. He looks forward to getting to know the community and offering them good food.

“We are happy to be here,” Guillen said. “People are so nice.”

Guillen expressed gratitude for everyone who has showed interest in Birrieria El Antojo so far. He looks forward to operating his restaurant and getting to know the people of Pocatello.

“We are happy with the people,” Guillen said. “Everyone is happy too.”

Guillen and his family are originally from Mexico. They have been living in Idaho for the past few months while they worked to get the restaurant open.

“We have been in Idaho for three to six months,” Guillen said.

The Birrieria El Antojo menu features several different options for tacos and burritos. The burrito menu includes fish, shrimp, bean and cheese and vegetarian.

They also have a special Idaho burrito that contains fries, cream, cheese, carne asada and guacamole. They even have a Pocatello burrito that is made with carne asada, cream, cheese, bacon and potatoes. Prices for both burritos and tacos are around $13.

The taco menu also has several different options for restaurant patrons to choose from. There are options for mini tacos that include birria, carnitas and asada. The large taco options include fish, chicken, lengua, asada and Idaho.

Breakfast options at Birrieria El Antojo include huevo con chorizo and huevo rancheros. The kid’s menu offers three options. They are chicken nuggets, pizza and quesadilla fries.

Birrieria El Antojo also serves a few exotic flavors of fruit juice to its customers. Some of the flavors included are pineapple and cantaloupe.
