Colorado offensive lineman Chauncey Gooden (51) blocks Georgia Tech safety Savion Riley (13) as Colorado running back Micah Welch (29) runs during the first half of an NCAA college football game, Thursday, Sept. 3, 2026, in Atlanta.
Colorado interior lineman Chauncey Gooden played both offense and defense in a season-opening win against Georgia Tech. The 380-pound sophomore played 65 snaps on the offensive line and seven on defense in goal-line and short-yardage situations. Gooden draws inspiration from Travis Hunter, the 2024 Heisman Trophy winner who excelled as a two-way player. Coach Deion Sanders signed off on Gooden playing on both sides and Gooden embraced the challenge. He helped limit Georgia Tech to 51 yards rushing and contributed to Colorado's strong running game. The Buffaloes host Weber State on Saturday at Folsom Field.
