    The Century Diamondbacks started slow but finished strong, defeating the Rigby Trojans 26-24, 25-12, 25-11 Tuesday at Century.

    “In our first set, we came out and did not pass well,” said Century head coach Pauline Thiros. “Luckily, we had a nine-point run and we were able to eke out a close win in that opening set.

    Century, 30-2 overall and 4-0 in the 4A Fifth/ Sixth District, had a strong night offensively.

    Both Kayla Ellis and Ann Clappier had 15 kills and Clappier also had six blocks. Henny Hearn had five kills, Sami Parris chipped in four blocks, Jennie Murillo had nine digs and Jacqueline Cuttlers finished with eight digs.

    “Defensively, we have a lot of things we need to work on,” Thiros said.

    The Diamondbacks host Preston Thursday. The match begins at 7:30 p.m.

Idaho Falls 4, Highland 1

    Highland lost to the defending 5A state champion Idaho Falls Tigers 25-21, 21-25, 25-23, 25-23 Tuesday at Highland.

    Ashlyn VanEvery led the way for the Rams with 26 assists, 11 digs and four aces. Sequoia Dance had10 kills and 9 digs. Bailey Harding finished with six kills and three blocks, and libero Ashley Orr had 15 digs.

    Highland plays at Hillcrest Thursday, starting at 7:30 p.m.
