Zak Grigg threw for four touchdowns and rushed for two more as American Falls cruised to a 47-0 victory over Soda Springs on Friday night at home.
The senior quarterback spread the wealth through the air, connecting with four different receivers for scores. Gavin Adamson, Kahlen Hernandez, Tripp Wagstaff and Armondo Ledesma all hauled in touchdown passes from Grigg, who was the team’s running back last season. Adamson also had a rushing touchdown of his own.
American Falls’ (1-0) defense was equally impressive, forcing three turnovers to stifle any Soda Springs offensive momentum. Ty Smith and Sawyer Bolgen each recorded interceptions, while Zak Resendiz recovered a fumble.
The Cardinals (0-1) extended their losing streak to 18 games dating back to the 2022 season.
HIGHLAND 30, LEGACY (NV) 0
Defense was the name of the game as the Highland Rams (1-0) blanked Legacy (Nevada) 30-0 in their season opener Friday night at home.
Highland limited Legacy to just 190 yards of total offense and forced two turnovers.
Junior Cedric Mitchell led the Rams with 241 yards of total offense and three touchdowns, including 151 yards and a pair of scores on the ground. Backup quarterback Jacob Vincent threw for 198 yards and two touchdowns with starter Keaton Belnap sidelined with a shoulder injury.
CENTURY 36, NAMPA 35, OT
The Diamondbacks (1-0) ended two years of frustration by snapping a 17-game losing streak in dramatic fashion Friday night.
They won the game by electing to go for two points instead of kicking the extra point in overtime. It marked Century’s first victory since a 33-13 win over Preston on Oct. 7, 2022.

The Indians (1-0) took care of business on the road Friday night in their season opener.
Preston's balanced offensive attack featured quarterback Conner Thomson throwing for 221 yards while Conner Iverson led the ground game with 141 rushing yards. Kylton added 85 yards and a touchdown on the ground, and Jojo Lumpkin paced the receiving corps with 74 yards and a score.

Travis Draper couldn’t asked for a better night in his first game at the helm for the Grizzlies (1-0) in their season opener Friday night on the road in nonconference play.
Grace has now won four straight season openers.
HOMEDALE 31, SNAKE RIVER 6
The Panthers (1-0) were overwhelmed by the reigning state runner-up Trojans in their season opener at home Friday night in nonconference action.
They trailed 21-0 before Preston Wheatley scored their lone touchdown on a 36-yard scamper in the fourth quarter. Clancy Howell led Snake River in the loss with 135 rushing yards.
