Soda Springs High School senior Kate White has signed her National Letter of Intent to run cross country and track at the College of Idaho.
The Cardinals’ standout was a member of four state championship teams in cross country, two basketball state championships and won a track state title as a member of Soda Springs’ 4x400-meter relay team.
White finished eighth or better at all four cross country state meets she ran in as a high-schooler.
“How do you replace a person like Kate White? You don’t. You just hope the younger kids have watched what it takes to be great and try and emulate her habits and leadership,” Cardinals cross country coach Jeff Horsley said. “Kate has been a critical part of our program and has certainly helped set the standard of what it takes to be a Cardinal cross country runner, but I’m excited for her to continue her career with the College of Idaho.”
Reagan Yamauchi signs with Snow College
Soda Springs senior Reagan Yamauchi has signed an NJCAA National Letter of Intent to play basketball at Snow College in Ephraim, Utah.
Yamauchi led the Soda Springs girls basketball team to state championships in 2018 and 2019. The two state title runs include a 53-game winning streak over the past two seasons. Yamauchi was named the 2A All-Idaho Player of the Year after this past season. She also earned first-team all-2A District 5 honors three times.
Yamauchi missed her sophomore season due to an ACL injury.
“Reagan has been instrumental in the success of Soda Springs basketball for the last four years,” Cardinals coach Wade Schvaneveldt said.
“None of this would have been possible without the help of my teammates, coaches, and community,” Yamauchi said.
