POCATELLO — Century was excruciatingly close to scoring on countless occasions Saturday at Century High School.
Yet, the Diamondbacks still scored more than enough in a 7-0 blowout win in which they blitzed the Burley Bobcats from start to finish.
Dayzee Carter led the Diamondbacks with two goals. She was also partially responsible for Century’s first goal of the game, when her corner kick went off the goalkeeper's hands for an own goal.
Senior Courtney Handlen had the last two goals of the first half to put Century ahead 3-0. Ellie Surmelis tallied the first goal of the second half, scampering down the baseline before squeezing the ball between the goalkeeper and the near post in the 59th minute. Avery Hall scored five minutes later with a header, one of four Century goals scored on a corner kick.
"The (Burley) keeper was tattooed so many times," Century coach Jamshid Roomiany said. "Their keeper was just right on the spot. Our players were just hitting the keeper."
The Diamondbacks (3-0) play Monday at Preston.
