MCCAMMON — The water boil advisory for McCammon and the surrounding area has been lifted after the affected well returned satisfactory samples, according to Bannock County.

McCammon and the surrounding area were asked to boil all water before consumption from Tuesday afternoon until about 11 a.m. Friday while work was completed on the city’s main water line.

The repairs to the city’s main line were followed by subsequent repairs to a major well for the area that went down, McCammon’s website says.

The main waterline repair is part of McCammon’s water system improvements project.

“We received grant funding to replace this main waterline coming into our town,” said McCammon City Clerk Kassadi Dunn. “The existing line is very old — some sections have had 1936 stamped on them. The main waterline goes under the river and a marshy creek, so as crews bore to put in the new line they inevitably had significant water removal required.”

Dunn added that the boil order was not associated in any way to standing water that pooled as crews worked to repair the main line.

All repairs have been completed and water pressure has stabilized for residents living in McCammon in the surrounding area

“As of 11 a.m. Friday, the boil order in McCammon has been lifted,” Bannock County said in a Friday news release. “Department of Environmental Quality results for the affected well came back satisfactory, along with approval to lift the boil order.”
