Idaho State Police say a vehicle fire briefly shut down a portion of Interstate 15 near Chubbuck on Tuesday morning.

No one was injured in the incident that occurred around 8:30 a.m., police said, but the northbound lanes were blocked for roughly 15 minutes while the fire was extinguished.

The fire involved a green Kia Soul, police said.

A new transmission system had just been installed in the vehicle and the driver was taking it out for a test drive, according to officials with the Chubbuck Fire Department, which also responded to the scene. They say it appears that the fire started in the area of the new transmission.
