FORT HALL — A fire on the Fort Hall Reservation on Thursday afternoon left three dogs dead and destroyed a family’s trailer home.

Fort Hall Fire Department responded to the fire at 1116 D St. at about 12:30 p.m. Thursday with the help of the North Bannock Fire District.

No humans were injured in the fire, but three dogs were killed, and fire crews determined the home is most likely a total loss.

“The crew made an aggressive attack and knocked the fire down within 25 minutes of arrival,” the Shoshone Bannock Tribes said in a news release.

Fort Hall Fire Chief Eric King thanked North Bannock Fire for its assistance, as multiple emergencies were happening at the same time on the Fort Hall Reservation Thursday afternoon. King also offered his condolences and said his department’s “prayers go out to the family and the pets they lost today.”

The fire department did not disclose what might have caused the fire.

The Tribes said Red Cross is assisting the family with basic needs and shelter.
