NAMPA — Nampa Police arrested a 30-year-old man Oct. 4 after he allegedly impaled a woman with a screwdriver.

Police responded after a report about the incident in the 1700 block of Judith Avenue, which occurred two days earlier, accusing Jared Duren, of Nampa, of throwing the screwdriver when he and his girlfriend were arguing.

The woman told police that Duren was unscrewing a TV mount from the wall while she was standing by the couch 10 feet away. The woman ducked to protect her face, but the screwdriver instead hit her thigh, according to a court document.

The woman told police there was a lot of bleeding and she was worried about tetanus, so she did receive medical treatment. 

Duren was released from prison in 2014 after being convicted of fraudulent use of a credit card, grand theft by possession and burglary. He also had a prior conviction of misdemeanor injury to child in May.

Duren reportedly admitted to drinking, despite being forbidden to drink due to his parole. He is also taking anger management classes, according to the document.

He was booked into the Canyon County jail and is being held on a $500,000 bond.
