INKOM — Pebble Creek Ski Area will open its doors Saturday for the start of the ski season with or without snow.

While Pebble’s lifts may or may not be operating Saturday due to conditions, the ski area’s lodge will be fully open and the entire community is encouraged to visit.

Pebble’s management is asking local residents to show up and show support during what’s been a challenging start this winter for ski areas and resorts throughout Idaho.

Pebble Creek announced this week that while it’s hopeful for an Aspen-only opening Saturday, there’s a chance snow conditions won’t cooperate.

Regardless of how much snow’s on the ground, Pebble’s lodge will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

“We are so excited to get this season started that we’ll do it with or without the snow,” Pebble Creek said in a social media post. “Whether the lift is running or not, the lodge will be open.”

Pebble Creek is encouraging the community to visit the mountain Saturday to pick up season passes, enjoy food and drinks, and watch football in the lodge’s Rock Bottom bar.

“Pick up your season pass, enjoy some of those Pebble fries and drink a cold beer and watch football in the Rock Bottom,” the ski area said. “Let’s see this amazing community come together and spread some love and support up here on the mountain.”

The ski area emphasized that its employees have been working hard to prepare for the season and are eager to welcome skiers and visitors.

“Your Pebble Creek team has been working hard and we’re more than ready to see you all up here,” the post stated.

Pebble Creek typically opens in mid-December, but warm temperatures and limited snowfall have delayed the start of the season for many Idaho ski areas and resorts this winter.
