IDAHO FALLS — None of the workers at the Idaho National Laboratory received an internal or external radiological dose that exceeded regulatory limits established by the U.S. Department of Energy during a fuel-packaging accident last November at the Materials and Fuels Complex, according to a news release.

    INL officials will release more specific data today with regards to the internal radiological dose that effected 16 workers.

    All 16 workers returned to work the day after the accident and all have been cleared to perform radiological work.

    Moreover, INL officials do not anticipate that the workers health has been compromised due to the accident.

    Over the last 11 months, internal dosimetry professionals have performed more than 1,400 analyses on 228 different biological samples to formulate their conclusion.

    Additionally, a solubility study was performed to determine the rate at which the inhaled radiological material is dissolving and exiting the body.

    The results for all 16 employees were reviewed by INL dosimetry professionals and managers. An independent, national expert also concurred with the results before they were finalized and released to the public on Thursday.
