POCATELLO — Police are investigating the death of a woman during a disturbance at a home early Sunday morning just a few blocks from Pocatello City Hall.

The incident was reported at a residence on the 800 block of East Wyeth Street around 12:20 a.m., police said.

It’s the second time in less than a week that Pocatello police have initiated a death investigation, with the earlier case being the discovery of another woman’s body in a burning mobile home.

Sunday morning’s incident began when someone at the East Wyeth home called police to report what authorities call a medical assist. The caller told police a woman at the residence was unconscious and not breathing, authorities said.

Pocatello police and fire units responded and quickly determined a disturbance had taken place at the home and the woman was dead, police said.

Authorities have not released the woman’s name but they did say that she resided at the home. An investigation into her death is underway and police said an autopsy will be performed on the woman’s body.

A significant police presence remained in the East Wyeth neighborhood well into Sunday morning and the home where the woman died was cordoned off with crime scene tape.

Police said there’s no evidence that Sunday morning’s death at the East Wyeth home is connected to the suspicious death of another woman in a mobile home fire Tuesday evening on South Fifth Avenue near Idaho State University.

An autopsy was performed on the woman whose body was found in the burning mobile home but the results won’t be available for at least a month.
