Police have arrested a man who allegedly fired a gun near a popular Pocatello bar because he reportedly thought people were laughing at him.

Antonio Whitney Sr., 40, of Pocatello, is currently being held at the Bannock County Jail on an aggravated assault charge for shooting a gun multiple times into the air near the Clydesdale Bar on the 600 block of North Fifth Avenue late Saturday night.

Nobody was injured during the incident, police said.

Whitney was pulled over by police and arrested without incident on Tuesday on New Day Parkway in Chubbuck, police said.

Pocatello police said that when questioned about the shooting, Whitney said he fired his gun to scare people because he thought they were laughing at him outside of the Clydesdale.

Police are still investigating an unrelated shots fired incident in Pocatello that happened minutes after the shooting near the Clydesdale.

This second shots fired incident occurred on the 300 block of Hyde Avenue, a residential neighborhood near Greenacres Elementary School. No one was wounded and police said they do not believe the shooting was related to what happened near the Clydesdale.
