POCATELLO — The Fire Department responded to Portneuf Medical Center on Sunday morning after a small fire occurred in one of the hospital's staff offices.

There were no injuries or evacuations and the hospital remained open throughout the incident, PMC officials said.

The fire occurred around 10:15 a.m. when a power cord in a third-floor staff office ignited, PMC officials said.

Hospital staff members noticed the fire and quickly extinguished it with a fire extinguisher.

The Pocatello Fire Department was dispatched to the hospital as a precaution and remained on the scene for about 90 minutes mostly to ventilate the third floor.

There was no damage to the office except for the burned cord, firefighters said.

PMC officials said the fire was small and did not interrupt hospital operations at all.
