INKOM — After a holiday storm dumped 24 inches of snow in the mountains over the last four days, Pebble Creek Ski Area has fully opened for a new season of winter sports and fun.
“We were ready to go as soon as we got enough snow,” said Dana Kmetz, assistant general manager at Pebble Creek. “Everything was staged. Tower pads were on, rope lines pulled out, toboggans in place, ramp work done. Everything was ready to go as soon as we got enough snow. We could just spin the lift and call in some staff.”
Pebble had opened its Aspen area on Dec. 21 but needed more snow to open the upper mountain. The holiday storm that began late last week and continued through the weekend solved that problem and Pebble was able to fully open on Saturday.
Pebble’s hours are 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. daily. This weekend will also start Pebble’s night skiing, which will be from 4 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. every Friday and Saturday in January and February.
Free live music will be offered at Pebble’s Rock Bottom Saloon from 3:30 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. every Sunday.
Pebble will also play host to the Toyota Free Ski event on Friday, Jan. 17, where anyone driving a Toyota Scion or Lexus will get one complimentary lift ticket for that day.
Nearly all the typically groomed runs at Pebble are now available to ski, snowboard and sled upon.
“We had a lot of really happy guests this past weekend, lots of smiling faces,” Kmetz said. “It was good to see people getting outside and playing on the mountain.”
