BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Police are investigating a motorist who crashed into a crowd of pedestrians who had just left a funeral at a Boise church.

Authorities say nine people, including a 5-year-old child, have been taken to the hospital for injuries.

The collision occurred Monday afternoon on the city’s west side.

Boise Police Spokeswoman Lynn Hightower said the motorist was parked next to the sidewalk before he unintentionally accelerated into the crowd gathered outside a Mormon church.

Police have not identified the driver, who was not hurt. But a female passenger in the vehicle was among those taken to the hospital for medical care.
