A new housing community on Jefferson Avenue in Pocatello is nearing completion and is anticipated to be finished by the end of the year.

Jake Tracy, general contractor with Tracy Homes and Development, said the housing community was the idea of DW Investors, which has been working to provide more housing in the Pocatello area for the past few years.

“He found this piece of land and it’s taken about three years to get it pushed through to this point,” Tracy said.

This development, which is named the Steel Hollow Cottage Community, is expected to be completed in November or December of this year, depending on weather conditions.

“Everything’s been moving along at a pretty good pace,” Tracy said.

Workers on the project are finishing up the drywall portion and they are now starting on the steel work.

“We’re getting to the point where he wants to start preleasing,” Tracy said. “People can be ready to come in here when they’re complete.”

“They’re really accurate to how they’re going to finish,” Tracy said. “They’re actually pretty cool 3D renderings.”

The homes in the Steel Hollow Cottage Community are designed to be compact, each featuring two bedrooms and one bathroom. They are an ideal choice for those seeking a smaller living space.

“There is a loft upstairs that you could call a flex-based bedroom area,” Tracy said. “They could be considered a two bedroom.”

Tracy said a lot of money and resources went into making this project possible. DW Investors didn’t want the community to be like a typical apartment complex.

“We’re trying to make the finishes a little nicer,” Tracy said. “We’re trying to actually build a sense of community. When people live here, they’re going to live in something they can be proud of.”
