A boy died and a man was airlifted to a hospital after a pickup truck ejected both occupants in the Fort Hall Bottoms Saturday afternoon, and a Pocatello motorcyclist was killed the same day after losing control of his bike on a highway near Craters of the Moon National Monument, authorities said.

Fort Hall Police Department dispatch received a 911 call reporting the single-vehicle crash at approximately 2:45 p.m. Responding officers located both victims at the scene. The boy was pronounced dead. The man was airlifted by emergency helicopter for treatment. No updates on his condition have been provided.

Both occupants were ejected during the crash, according to Fort Hall Police Chief Patrick Teton. The Fort Hall Police Department and the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes extended their condolences to the family and loved ones of the boy.

Idaho State Police are conducting the crash reconstruction and investigation in Fort Hall.

In Butte County, a 65-year-old Pocatello man died after losing control of his 2022 Harley-Davidson on U.S. Highway 93 south of Arco at approximately 11:58 a.m. The man left the roadway and came to rest in the lava rocks alongside the highway. He was pronounced dead at the scene. He was wearing a helmet, state police said.

That crash also remains under investigation by Idaho State Police. The names of those involved in both crashes have not yet been released.
