Two Teton County sheriff's deputies were charged for unrelated incidents today, according to Randy Neal, Bonneville County Prosecuting Attorney, who has been appointed as a special prosecutor in both cases.

Troy Lester Dameron, of Rexburg, Idaho, was charged with Indecent Exposure for allegedly exposing himself to a dispatcher while on duty in August of this year. Bond for Dameron was set at $15,000.00.

Fred Robert Hale, of Tetonia, Idaho, was charged with Petit Theft and Altering/Concealment of Evidence for allegedly taking personal items of a decedant during an unattended death investigation in September of this year, and then altering his bodycam video to conceal it. Bond for Hale was set at $10,000.00.

Both individuals turned themselves in and posted bond.

The incidents were investigated by Tri-County and Bonneville County detectives. The Teton County Sheriff’s Office fully cooperated with the investigation.

Teton County Prosecuting Attorney Bailey Smith filed for appointment of a special prosecutor and recused herself in both cases, as contemplated by Idaho law, due to the close working relationship between her Office and the Sheriff’s Office.

The Bonneville County Prosecuting Attorney was appointed as special prosecutor through the Eastern Idaho Regional Prosecutors Alliance, a group of local prosecutors who assist each other by sharing resources and support.
