BOISE — Girl Scouts of Silver Sage has launched the 2026 Girl Scout Cookie season, and this year brings something new to the beloved lineup: Exploremores, a cookie inspired by rocky road ice cream.

According to a news release, the new cookie is filled with chocolate, marshmallow, and toasted almond-flavored crème and is designed to reflect the spirit of exploration at the heart of every Girl Scout. It joins a roster of returning classics that includes Thin Mints, Caramel deLites, Peanut Butter Patties and other fan favorites.

The Girl Scout Cookie Program is billed in the release as the largest girl-led entrepreneurial program in the world, and local council leaders say it offers far more than a seasonal treat. When girls participate, they set goals, build customer relationships, and make real business decisions — experiences the organization says build lasting confidence and leadership skills.

“Every cookie season reminds us that the Girl Scout Cookie Program is so much more than a beloved tradition — it’s the largest, most powerful entrepreneurship experience for girls in the world,” said Dr. Angela Hemingway, CEO of Girl Scouts of Silver Sage, in the release. “We’re incredibly proud to support them as they transform curiosity into courage, ambition into action, and their own ideas into true entrepreneurial success.”

The release notes that all proceeds from cookie sales stay with local councils and troops, funding experiences such as service projects, troop travel, and summer camp. The program serves Girl Scouts from kindergarten through 12th grade, and the release paints a vivid picture of what that investment can mean — from a kindergartener marveling at jellyfish on an aquarium field trip to a middle schooler finding the courage to embark on her first overnight trip with her troop.

Cookies can be purchased by contacting a local Girl Scout directly or by visiting girlscoutcookies.com and entering a zip code to find a nearby booth sale or arrange direct shipment. The Cookie Finder also allows customers to donate cookies through the Operation Cookie Program, which provides treats to veterans and active-duty military personnel, according to the release.

Pocatello resident and mother of a local Girl Scout Farhana Hibbert says Troop 972 will be selling cookies from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Lowe’s and from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday at Fred Meyer near the pharmacy.

Girl Scouts of Silver Sage serves more than 2,500 girls across southern Idaho and parts of northern Nevada and eastern Oregon, supported by approximately 1,800 local volunteers.
