The Pocatello Municipal Band will present the fourth concert of the 2023 season of Music in the Park on Sunday at 7 p.m. at Ross Park in the Guy Gates Memorial Band Shell. This week will be an evening of jazz as the band performs a variety of popular jazz and rock tunes from the 20th century. The concert will feature the band’s very own saxophone player Ryker Reece, music student at Idaho State University. He will be performing “Embraceable You” by George Gershwin. The generous concert sponsor this week is Idaho Central Credit Union, and they would love to allow someone from the audience to be the guest director, so don’t forget to enter your name in the basket at the park.
Program is as follows:
— “The Klaxon March” by Henry Fillmore.
— “Strike Up The Band” by Gershwin, arranged by Barker.
— “At A Dixieland Funeral,” arranged by Jared Spears.
— “In the Mood,” arranged by Johnnie Vinson.
— “Big Band Cavalcade,” arranged by Andy Clark.
— “Red Rhythm Valley” by Charles Lee Hill (guest conductor from the audience).
— “Blue Bayou,” arranged by Jay Dawson.
— “Rock and Roll Hall of Fame,” arranged by Paul Jennings.
— “Embraceable You” by Gershwin arranged by Barker (Ryker Reece).
— “Rhapsody in Rhumba” by David Bennett.
— “Gee, Officer Krupke,” arranged by Paul Murtha.
— “The Squealer March” by Will Huff.
