The children of Fred Clemons are happy to announce their fathers 80th birthday and are throwing a party in his honor.

Fred was born in Silver Pointe, Tennessee, on Aug. 19, 1937, to Myrtle and Jesse Clemons. The family remained a few more years in Tennessee before moving to Rexburg, Idaho. Fred was an all-around athlete. He graduated from Madison High School in 1955.

Fred enlisted in the Army Reserves. He attended Ricks College on a sports scholarship. That’s where he met Norma Jean. It was love at first sight. They were married in September 1958 in the Logan, Utah Temple. They had four daughters: Tammy, Tracy, Merritt and Lisa. Fred went with his unit to Vietnam. After returning home, he moved his family to Pocatello. He worked for Idaho State University. Later, two sons, Justin and Tyson, were born.

Fred and Norma Jean both retired from the ISU in the summer of 1998. They served an LDS mission teaching English at a Khabarovsk, Russia University, as well as providing assistance to orphanages.

He is a temple worker in the Idaho Falls Temple. They love to travel, whether it is to see one of their 22 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren or one of their own siblings. The pair never seems to slow down. Fred loves helping neighbor’s and friends.
