BLACKFOOT — The Gem State Classic Pro Rodeo has punched its ticket to elite status for the second consecutive year, landing a coveted spot as a PRCA Top 5 Medium Market Rodeo.
Held annually at the Eastern Idaho State Fair, the Blackfoot rodeo now stands among the nation’s premier events, competing with rodeos from across the country for the sport’s highest honor.
Dennis Marshall, chairman and board director of the Eastern Idaho State Fair, credited world-class competitors and fierce community support for the recognition.

The Gem State Classic’s rise has been nothing short of remarkable. Now in its 14th year, the event has already claimed two PRCA Small Market Rodeo of the Year titles before moving up to medium market status and maintaining its elite ranking.
PRCA members will vote for top rodeos in each category from Oct. 28-31. Winners will be announced at the PRCA Awards Banquet in Las Vegas on Dec. 3.
