SEATTLE — With as little as seven minutes left, Idaho State made a run, slashing Washington’s lead from 12 to 5 in a three-minute stretch.

    But the Huskies regrouped at Alaska Airlines Arena Saturday afternoon in Seattle and finished on a 15-1 run to beat the Bengals 85-66.

    Andre Hatchett threw down a two-handed dunk at the 9 minute, 51-second mark and that was Idaho State’s final made field goal.

    The Bengals (3-4) traveled to Washington (5-4) with eight players on the bench, but ISU head coach Bill Evans would not point to fatigue as an excuse after the game.

    “It is what it is, you know. We wear down but, hey, we’re going to have to get used to it because that’s what we’ve got,” Evans said. “I’m not going to use that as a crutch. Our guys can’t use that as a crutch. We’ve got to fight through that.”

    Tomas Sanchez and Jeffrey Solarin both scored 14 for ISU. Solarin added six rebounds and Sanchez had six assists. Andre Hatchett added 12 points and Chris Hansen chipped in 11 on 3-of-12 shooting.

    The Bengals, who entered the game hitting 45 percent of their attempts from the 3-point line, were 2 of 13 (15 percent) against the Huskies.

    “The difference was from the arc,” Evans said, pointing to the fact that Washington nailed 10 3-pointers.

    UW is the sixth team this season to rattle off 10 or more 3s against ISU’s zone defense.

    “We’re still giving up too many good looks from the arc,” Evans said. “... I didn’t know if we were going to get them stopped to be honest with you in the first half. I mean, sincerely, I did not know if we were going to get them stopped.”

    Washington, one of the top scoring teams in the country, ripped off 46 points by half. Senior guard C.J. Wilcox, a silky smooth shooter, poured in 14 of his 19. And all game, Perris Blackwell, a 6-foot-9 senior forward, burrowed his way inside to post a game-high 20 points.

    Idaho State plays Idaho Friday in Boise.

NOTES: Idaho State is now 0-5 all time against Washington. ... The loss to UW is ISU’s third to a Pac-12 team this season and 23rd straight overall. ... Senior Tomas Sanchez scored in double figures for the fifth consecutive game, and senior Andre Hatchett has reached double digits in six straight.
