REXBURG — For the first time since the 2010 4A state championship game, the Blackfoot Broncos tasted defeat as they fell at Madison 35-14 on Friday evening.

“Like I told the kids after the game, football will expose you if you don’t do the little things and do the work neces- sary to win,” Blackfoot head coach Stan Buck said. “Madison beat us up. I was impressed with what they were able to do to us.”

Madison’s spread offense gave the Blackfoot defense fits all evening long as they racked up 279 yards through the air as they raced out to a 21-0 half-

time advantage. “We have to get better in the second-

ary,” Coach Buck said. “Defensively we need to get better as a team.    Every- one must be accountable and hopefully the kids will work for it.”

Trailing by three scores Blackfoot came out of the break and were able to march the ball down the field for their first score of the game, a 24-yard touchdown pass to Colby Pearson from Alonzo Ramos.

“Offensively it took us a while to get going,” Coach Buck said. “We were able to get into a little rhythm their in the third quarter but we need to be- come much more consistent if we want to get where we want to be.”

Madison responded to the Blackfoot

score with a pair of rushing touch- downs by Sam Baldwin who finished the evening with 95 yards rushing and three touchdowns against the Broncos.

Blackfoot was able to get a late score with an Alonzo Ramos 3-yard rushing score with under minute left in the game but it was far too little and much too late in the final outcome.

Blackfoot (6-1, 3-0) will lick their wounds and look to get back on track when they host Pocatello next Friday for a key conference game.

“I think that the kids will come out and put in the the work this week,” Coach Buck said. “Pocatello will be an entirely different scheme than we faced tonight so we will need to be pre- pared.”
