American Falls 8, Malad 2

    Three Dragon errors and alive, active Beaver bats propelled American Falls past Malad 8-2 Thursday afternoon in Malad City.

    “We just played poorly,” said Malad head coach Dennis Evans. “We didn’t play very well. Our errors were costly.”

    The Dragons drop to 1-2 overall. American Falls jumped out 4-0 after the first two innings and that was more than enough for pitcher Mitch Deagle.

    Deagle threw a complete game, allowing four hits and two runs.

    Malad hosts Snake River today at 11 a.m.

Malad 3, Bear River, Utah 1

    Malad scored two runs in the top of the seventh to earn a 3-1 victory on the road over Bear River, Utah on Thursday.

    Both teams had plenty of opportunities to score runs as both teams combined for 18 hits, but neither team could get the big hit until Malad did in the seventh.

    “It was a pitchers dual,” Malad head coach Scott Ray said. “We had plenty of people on base and could have scored but could not get them across.”

    Kyle Thorpe pitched a complete game and had a double at the plate for the Dragons.
