North Gem

Freshman 98-pounder Dawson Barfuss capped off a 41-11 season with a runner-up finish at the 2A state tournament. Barfuss won the 2A District 5-6 championship and recorded two pins and a major decision in three wins at state.

Dekker Anderson, fr.

Highland

Rams freshman Dekker Anderson placed in four major tournaments and went 39-7. He took third at state, was the 5A District 5-6 champion and finished third and fourth at the Red Halverson Invitational and Tiger-Grizz Invitational, respectively.

Treyton Nilsson, sr.

Snake River

Treyton Nilsson went out the only way he knew how — with a state championship. The Panthers senior won his fourth 3A state title to wrap up a 45-1 season, becoming the ninth four-time state title winner in 3A Idaho history.

Nilsson won the 3A District 5 championship, the Red Halverson and Tiger-Grizz invitationals and the Buhl Invitational, finishing his Snake River career with a 160-16 overall record.

Boone Giulio, fr.

American Falls

After riding rough-shod through his first three state tournament opponents, Boone Giulio won the 3A state title with a dramatic 6-4 sudden victory as time expired.

The American Falls freshman, and son of Beavers coach Jim Giulio, pinned his first three opponents in a combined two minutes, 28 seconds.

Giulio was the 3A District 5 champ and finished with a 44-3 overall mark.

Lane Hunt, jr.

Blackfoot

The 4A 126-pound state champ, Blackfoot’s Lane Hunt used a combination of length and strength to dominate competition all season.

He won the state title with a 12-0 major decision and took first at the 4A District 5-6 tournament, third at Tiger-Grizz and was the champion at the Red Halverson and Madison invitationals. He finished with a 46-7 overall record.

Luke Kirby, jr.

Pocatello

Fighting injury for much of the season, Pocatello junior Luke Kirby battled through to finish 36-7 with a fourth-place finish at the 4A state tournament.

Kirby took third at the Richardson Memorial Tournament and second at Tiger-Grizz.

Takoda Bingham, sr.

Shelley

Shelley’s Takoda Bingham was on a roll all season and was finally halted in the 3A state title match.

Bingham ended his season at 50-4 with a runner-up finish at state and three tournament championships including the 3A District 6 tourney and John Berry Classic Sugar Invitational.

Bingham won the 3A state title in 2014.

Clay Elkington, jr.

Firth

After battling sickness his sophomore year, Firth junior Clay Elkington went 41-2 and won the 2A state title.

His two losses came in the 2A District 6 championship match and the John Berry Classic. Otherwise, Elkington was unstoppable.

He took first in the Marsh Valley Wrestling Tournament, the Malad Invitational and the Magic Valley Classic.

Eric Eliason, sr.

Malad

Malad senior Eric Eliason entered the 2A state tournament as the top seed with a 45-1 record. He suffered rare losses and took fourth to end his career with a 48-3 senior season.

Eliason dominated most of the year, winning six tournaments including the 2A District 5 championship.

Denver Dobson, sr.

Highland

A 5A District 5-6 champion and fourth-place state finisher, Highland’s Denver Dobson finished his senior season at 51-5 with third-place finishes in the Tiger-Grizz and Red Halverson invites.

He won the Marsh Valley Tournament and beat 3A state champion Wyatt Vogler at Tiger-Grizz.

Rylan Beck, sr.

Aberdeen

Aberdeen senior Rylan Beck cruised through the first three rounds of the 2A state tournament before falling to Challis’ Trager Abatti in the title match.

Beck finished his season with a 41-2 record and a district championship and a win in the Bear Lake Classic.

Payson Anderton, so.

Snake River

The 3A 182-pound state champion, Snake River sophomore Payson Anderton upset 2014 title winner Tate Grover (American Falls) in the semifinals to help the Panthers win their 12 state wrestling championship.

Anderton finished with a 38-10 record and won the 3A District 5 championship.

Austyn Harris, sr.

Preston

A sixth-place 4A state finisher, Preston senior Austyn Harris closed out the 2014-15 season with a 30-16 record.

Harris took second at the 4A District 5-6 tournament and eighth at Tiger-Grizz. He defeated district champion Jacob Stewart (Blackfoot) in the state tournament consolation bracket.

Alex Iszler, sr.

Pocatello

Poky senior Alex Iszler capped off a strong high school wrestling career with a 4A District 5-6 championship and a sixth-place finish at state.

Iszler took fourth at Tiger-Grizz and ended the season with a 41-9 overall record.

Tayson Reid, sr.

Preston

Preston senior heavyweight Tayson Reid entered the 4A state tournament as the top seed with a 26-1 record. He recorded four pins but was defeated by a 6-4 decision in the semifinals, marking his second loss of the season.

Reid, who has signed to play football for Southern Utah, took third at state and wound up with a 30-2 overall record, which included championships at the 4A District 5-6 tournament and Tiger-Grizz.

Cordingley took third at the 5A state tournament and fourth at Tiger-Grizz, beating 4A state champ Keiton Keller of Preston in the process.

Son of three-time state champion Travis Bell, Brittan was a district champ and went 1-1 against 3A state runner-up Takoda Bingham (Shelley).

Gabe Cobabe placed fifth at the 2A state tournament, won a district title and the Marsh Valley Tournament and finished second in three tournaments.

Calderwood was this year’s 3A state champion and won the 3A District 5 tournament title. He placed sixth or better at four other tournaments.

Like Vogler, Howell also won a 3A state crown and a district championship. The senior finished fourth or better at three tournaments including a fourth-place finish at Tiger-Grizz.

Grover battled injury to place fourth in the 3A state tournament and second at districts a year after winning the state title.

Stewart defeated Preston’s Austyn Harris to win the 4A District 5-6 championship and took fourth at the Madison Invitational.

Garnett placed fourth in the 5A District 5-6 tourney, eighth at Tiger-Grizz and won the Marsh Valley Tournament by beating Malad’s Rhett Daniels and Firth’s Audrec Reid.
