IDAHO FALLS — A resident was rescued and a dog died in a Sunday morning fire that destroyed an Idaho Falls mobile home, the Fire Department said.

Firefighters were dispatched to the scene around 10 a.m. after callers reported black smoke and flames coming from the residence at the mobile home park on West Elswood Drive off West Sunnyside Road, fire officials said.

Fire crews arriving on scene immediately began an aggressive fire attack while searching the home for occupants, the Fire Department said.

During the search, firefighters located a resident inside and were able to remove the individual from the burning home. Crews provided emergency medical care before the person was transported via ambulance to a local hospital, fire officials said.

The person's name and condition have not been released.

A dog was also found inside the home but did not survive the fire.

Firefighters quickly knocked down the blaze, though the home and its contents are a complete loss, according to the Fire Department.

The cause of the house fire remains under investigation.
