Former Highland High and Idaho State star Logan George is transferring to the University of Washington after spending a year at Ohio State.

George, a 6-foot-4-inch, 260-pound defensive end, played two seasons at Idaho State, leading the Big Sky Conference with 18.5 tackles for loss during the 2024 season, along with six sacks. He then entered the transfer portal, where he was offered by several major programs, including the defending national champion Buckeyes.

“I just felt like that is where I needed to be,” George told the Journal after picking Ohio State over Oklahoma, Georgia Tech and Texas A&M. “It was a mix of the culture, the coaching and the opportunity.”

But George was bothered by injuries during his lone season in Columbus, and wound up playing in only two games, registering two tackles. He didn’t play in the Buckeyes’ playoff loss to Miami, and then entered the transfer portal.

The Seattle Times reported Monday that George has committed to the Huskies, and that was confirmed by his father, David George.

Because he only played in two games with Ohio State, George will likely have two more seasons of eligibility with the Huskies. He’s expected to compete for a starting job at defensive end with the Huskies, who have lost nine defensive linemen from this year’s squad — five to the portal and four to graduation.

Idaho State will have a George on the roster next fall, though. Logan’s brother Colton, who signed with ISU out of Highland High School two years ago, will join the Bengals after returning from his LDS mission.

“Colton gets home in five months and is super excited to start his Bengal career,” David said.

The 6-2, 200-pound linebacker recorded 290 tackles during his Highland career, including 102 during his senior season. He had 16 tackles for loss, nine forced fumbles, five fumble recoveries, five pass deflections and an interception as a Ram.
