Timberlake High School has one. So does Madison.

And coming soon to Rigby High School is the new Broulim’s Fieldhouse.

The 60,000-square-foot multipurpose facility is located some 300 yards to the northeast of the high school, wedged between the soccer fields and the District 251 offices.

But you won’t exactly need a map and a compass to find the new fieldhouse. It stands three stories tall and blocks out the morning sun for hours. The building also features a massive Rigby Trojan on the west-facing exterior wall, just above the raised, backlit signage reading “Broulim’s Fieldhouse.”

Voters originally killed the idea in 2022 when they voted down a bond to finance the project. Given Idaho is one of two states requiring a two-thirds supermajority to pass such a bond, the 2022 vote was — like most school bonds — unlikely to pass from the start.

Enter the Broulim family.

The owners of Broulim’s Fresh Foods came forward to support the project in full, financing it from groundbreaking to completion.

That groundbreaking happened in May 2025, and completion is expected before the start of the fall semester, according to district Superintendent Chad Martin.

When open, the Broulim’s Fieldhouse will accommodate Rigby High School athletes and serve as a community resource.

The fieldhouse will feature a 200-meter track, three tennis courts, a long jump and triple jump pit, and a large grass area that will serve the winter needs of various sports, including softball, baseball, football, soccer and track and field.

For Rigby track and field coach Monica Seward, the new fieldhouse opens up opportunities for athletics and activities programs at RHS.

Instead of shoveling snow and facing down the east Idaho winter winds to stage preseason workouts, Seward’s team can now run, jump, throw and do all the technical things traditionally left to April.

“We will have a full 200-meter track, full runways for pole vault, long jump, triple jump, along with throwing rings for shot and discus,” Seward said. “We are also incorporating a track and field class during our winter trimester that the kids can take if they want to start their training and do winter meets.”

One of the indirect benefits of the Broulim’s Fieldhouse project is how it affects the basketball teams. Currently, softball and baseball teams are forced into the gym to do basic fielding and situational defense work, among other things.

Now that hardwood will be reserved for the basketball teams and other activities, and the stresses associated with scheduling and maintenance will be eased.

At 60,000 square feet, the Broulim’s Fieldhouse improves upon rival Madison’s Bobcat Fieldhouse by 15,000 square feet. Timberlake, in Spirit Lake, is the other school in Idaho with its own fieldhouse.

Mountain View also features a fieldhouse at the Mountain View Event Center, a facility shared by schools in the Boise School District.

Beyond that, multipurpose fieldhouses such as the Broulim’s Fieldhouse are typically the domain of colleges and universities.

It’s a luxury, to be sure, Seward said — one of the state’s top track and field programs intends to make full use of it.

Seward said the fieldhouse will have an immediate impact on her program.

“It will definitely get our kids more ready,” she said. “They will now have space to do full workouts and training drills in the winter to prepare for the spring season.”
