A friendly competition between three of Idaho judicial districts led to attorneys in those districts racking up 648 hours of public service during the summer of 2012, according to the Idaho State Bar.

In a release, the Idaho State Bar said Idaho’s fifth, sixth and seventh judicial districts, which cover South Central, Southeastern and Eastern Idaho respectively, took on the competition at the suggestion of area judges. Attorneys were asked to tally their pro bono hours and report them to their district bar associations.

Leading the way were the Sixth Judicial District, based in Pocatello, and the Seventh Judicial District, based in Idaho Falls. Those two districts each racked up 245 hours of pro bono work during the summer. The Fifth Judicial District, based in Twin Fall, had 158 hours from nine attorneys reporting.
