Pocatello hammered out 32 runs and 36 hits in two four-inning wins Thursday over Century, 15-0 and 17-1 at OK Ward Park.

Poky’s Lakecia Ramirez went 7 for 8 on the day, with seven RBIs, two doubles and a triple. Teammate Alyssa Winn was also 7 for 8, with nine RBIs, two doubles and a home run.

“The girls played great,” Poky coach Josh Naylor said. “Century is very well-coached. … They competed real well.”

Aramy Glaser went 2 for 2 for the D-backs in the opener, and Isabella Smith was 2 for 2 with a double in the nightcap.

Pocatello (7-3-1, 6-0 4A District 4-5) plays a doubleheader Tuesday at Minico. Century (1-4, 1-3 4A District 4-5) plays a doubleheader Monday at Wood River.

BLACKFOOT 11, BONNEVILLE 8

Kyah Henderson’s 4-for-4 day at the plate helped Blackfoot beat Bonneville 11-8 on the road Thursday.

Henderson hit one of the Broncos’ five doubles. She added two runs and two RBIs.

Blackfoot (6-1, 2-0 4A District 6) plays April 11 at Shelley.

PRESTON 16, BEAR LAKE 9

Preston’s bats came alive in Thursday’s 16-9 home win over Bear Lake.

The Indians smacked nine doubles and two triples en route to 21 hits. Sayge Keller was 4 for 4 with two doubles, and Vanessa Griffeth tallied a team-high three RBIs.

Preston (1-6, 0-4 4A District 4-5) hosts Jerome on Saturday for a doubleheader. Olivia Crane had two hits and two RBIs for Bear Lake (4-3), which plays Friday at Logan (Utah).

SNAKE RIVER 11, SODA SPRINGS 1 (5)

Snake River’s balanced offensive attack guided the team to an 11-1, five-inning win Thursday at home over Soda Springs.

Lizette Reyes went 2 for 3 for the Panthers and was one of four Snake batters to drive in two runs. Lindsie Larsen struck out eight and walked four in the circle while holding the Cardinals to three hits.

Snake River (5-2) plays Wednesday at Teton. Alyssa Ericcson had a double and one RBI for Soda Springs (2-2), which hosts American Falls on Tuesday.

AMERICAN FALLS 15, WEST SIDE 13

American Falls won a high-scoring affair, 15-13 Thursday at West Side.

The Beavers won without some of their starters.

“We had girls that stepped in and filled the positions,” A.F. coach Eric Morris said. “The bats were going today and we made the plays when we needed to.”

The Beavers (2-4) play Tuesday against Soda Springs at an undetermined location. West Side (0-3) hosts Ririe on Friday.

MALAD 7, DECLO 5

Malad found its rhythm late in Thursday’s 7-5, come-from-behind win at Declo.

The Dragons trailed 5-1 through six innings, but turned it on for six runs in the seventh.

“Declo played great softball. For six innings, they really controlled the game,” Malad coach Bob Hannah said. “The girls just put it together.”

Malad (7-0) hosts Firth on Wednesday.

BASEBALL

BONNEVILLE 8, BLACKFOOT 1

Blackfoot was kept off balance at the plate in Thursday’s 8-1 home loss to Bonneville.

Bees pitcher Randon Hostert struck out 11 Broncos hitters, while holding Blackfoot to six hits and no walks.

Jerod Gough and Jace Jorgensen had two hits apiece for the Broncos (5-3-1, 0-2 4A District 6), who play Bonneville again Friday.

MALAD 6, MARSH VALLEY 5 (8)

Malad capped Thursday’s rally by beating Marsh Valley 6-5 in eight innings at home.

The Dragons scored the game-winning run on an Eagles error in the eighth. Malad tied the game 5-5 on Trever Howe’s three-run home run in the seventh. Marsh Valley led 5-0 through 3 1/2.

Howe led Malad’s offense, going 2 for 3 with the home run and three RBIs. Tanner Branson hit a three-run homer in the third for Marsh Valley.

The Dragons (5-1) host Declo for a doubleheader on Monday. Marsh Valley (4-4) plays Tuesday at South Fremont.

ROCKLAND AT WILDER

Rockland’s game Thursday at Wilder was rescheduled for April 19.

The Bulldogs did not have enough players because many are at the Idaho FFA Convention in Twin Falls.

TRACK & FIELD

ANGIE WYATT

Aberdeen’s Matthew Klassen was the only District 5 athlete to finish first at the Angie Wyatt on Thursday at Filer High School.

Klassen had first-place times in the 100-meter (11.37 seconds) and 200-meter (23.06) races. Mitchell Spence placed second in the shot put with a throw of 42 feet, 11.5 inches for the Tigers, who placed fifth in the boys team standings.

The American Falls boys, who finished 13th, were led by Wyatt Kearn, who was eighth in shot put with a distance of 39-4.5.

Aberdeen’s Courtney Phillips was the top District 5 performer on the girls side, finishing second in the 200 with a time of 28.15 and third in the high jump at 4-1 to help lead the Tigers to ninth place.

American Falls’ Emma Barclay placed fourth in the 300 hurdles with a time of 52.76 seconds to lead the Beavers, who were 11th.

MALAD MEET

West Side was the top performer Thursday at Malad, finishing first in the boys and girls team standings.

The Pirates won all but one of the boys events and placed first in 10 girls events.

The Grace boys finished second in the standings, led by their second-place 4x100-meter relay team.

Malad and Sho-Ban finished third and fourth, respectively, in the boys standings.

The Dragons finished second in the girls standings, led by five first-place finishers.

Century dropped a single set during Thursday’s 6-0 sweep at Mountain Home.

In boys singles, Joe Murray, Jackson Holmstead and Scott Holmstead all beat their opponent 6-0, 6-0. Grace Neilsen and Rachel Stein did the same in girls singles.

“Everyone played well,” Diamondbacks coach Sean Kane said. “It was a nice day.”

The Century boys (4-0, 4-0 4A District 4-5) and girls (4-0, 4-0 4A District 4-5) host Twin Falls on Friday.
