Idaho State Journal Publisher Andy Pennington has been promoted as the new leader of Adams Publishing Group’s Eastern Idaho publications, including the Idaho Falls Post Register.

Pennington, who’s been the Journal’s publisher since 2012, said he’s “truly excited” about leading several of East Idaho’s top news organizations into the future.

“The strength of our shared efforts will ultimately be to the benefit of our communities, audiences and our employees in Eastern Idaho,” Pennington said.

Adams Publishing Group believes Pennington has the skill set and talents needed to lead its East Idaho publications — the Idaho State Journal, Post Register, Standard Journal in Rexburg and Teton Valley News in Driggs — through the 21st century’s ever-changing media landscape.

“Andy is a dynamic leader and a creative force for new revenue opportunities,” said Eric Johnston, chief operating officer for PNG Media, a division of Adams Publishing Group. “Those talents, paired with his experience in managing multiple markets will produce great opportunities in this region.”

Prior to moving to East Idaho, Pennington held director and publisher positions at publications in Oregon, Minnesota and Wisconsin. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business management from Chadron State College in Chadron, Nebraska.

Former Post Register Publisher Roger Plothow also has a new job as the president of Adams Publishing Group’s Signature Events, a new division focused on developing and producing policy-based events throughout Idaho and the West. Plothow also will serve as a news consultant to PNG’s Eastern Idaho newspapers.

The PNG Media division of Adams Publishing Group operates 22 print, digital and production operations in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Utah and Montana. Adams Publishing Group operates more than 130 newspaper titles and related operations in 13 states.
