Yellowstone National Park is on pace for its third busiest season on record, falling just off record pace during July.

Park officials released the latest monthly and year-to-date statistics showing that 958,706 visited Yellowstone in July, down 2 percent from last year. It was also 11 percent fewer visitors than in 2021, the park’s record-breaking year and the busiest July on record.

Through the end of July, 2,635,384 have passed through an entrance station into Yellowstone, compared to 2,668,765 in 2021.

In 2025, Yellowstone saw its second-highest visitation on record with more than 4.7 million visitors. The near-record numbers came despite a 43-day partial government shutdown in October and November, when the park saw a dip in visitation by nearly 8 percent from previous years.
