The USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service has issued a public health alert for mislabeled raw chicken-breast products containing egg, a known allergen, as an undeclared ingredient on the label.

The product was shipped to Fred Meyer grocery stores in Idaho, along with Fred Meyer and Kroger shops in Alabama, Alaska, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Oregon and Washington, FSIS said in a news release issued late Thursday afternoon.

Of concern is 21-ounce vacuum-packed packages of Private Selection Honey Dijon Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts with Rib Meat. The packages have a best-if-used-by date of June 28, 2026, a lot code of 15326A and an establishment number of P-45288B. The chicken was produced June 2 by FW Farms of Fort Worth, Texas.

“The problem was discovered by a retailer after a store employee identified that the correct label was applied to the front of the product but the incorrect label, which contained the ingredients statement, was applied to the back of the product,” FSIS said.

A recall was not requested because the product is no longer available; however, it might remain in purchasers’ refrigerators or freezers. If you have this product, FSIS says to throw it away or return it to the place of purchase.
