Two people were transported to Portneuf Medical Center Monday afternoon after being involved in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate-15 south of Pocatello.

    The accident occurred around 12:45 p.m. in the northbound lane of travel. Both vehicles reportedly careened off the highway and down an embankment following the initial impact.

    According to an Idaho State Police news release, Delmar L. Carey, 69, and his passenger Frances Carey, 64, both of St. Ignatius, Mont., were in a 2006 Ford sedan traveling north on I-15 when he crossed over the center line. In doing so, ISP officials say he hit a 1984 Toyota Tercel driven by Steven D. Pratt, 64, of Pocatello.

    Pratt and his passenger, Deborah A. Pratt, 60, of Pocatello, drove their personal vehicle to Portneuf Medical Center to be checked out by health professionals.

    All drivers and passengers were wearing seat belts, according to ISP.

    Traffic slowed down when emergency units responded to the accident.

    In addition, a two-vehicle accident occurred at the intersection of Fourth Avenue and Clark Street around 1:30 p.m. in Pocatello on Monday.

    Pocatello Police Department officers responded to the wreck.

    A Chevrolet pick-up and a red Cadillac reportedly collided. No one was seriously injured.
