Fire destroys building on Philbin

A fire destroyed a metal storage building in the area of Philbin and Sheepskin roads on the Fort Hall Indian Reservation on Sunday evening.

FORT HALL — An unoccupied vehicle and a metal storage building were destroyed in a fire on the Fort Hall Reservation on Sunday night.

Fort Hall Fire Chief Brian Briggs said the incident occurred in the area of Philbin and Sheepskin roads around 10 p.m.

It appears that the pickup truck caught fire first and the flames spread to the medium-sized Quonset Hut, which is believed to have been empty, Briggs said. Both the vehicle and storage building were totally engulfed when Fort Hall and Chubbuck firefighters arrived on scene.

No injuries were reported in the incident.

Briggs said the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Additional details, including the value of the truck and storage building, weren’t released on Monday.
