POCATELLO — Witchy craft nights, pumpkin parties and haunted houses will kick off the fall festivities this month just in time for the Halloween season.

Slaughter’s Realm Haunted Attraction has already unshackled the doors of the asylum and is inviting the community to experience thrills and chills of its ghoulish warehouse at 405 NE Main Street in Blackfoot. For ticket pricing and to view its seasonal schedule visit slaughtersrealm.com.

Gate City witches and warlocks can try their hands at creating magical brooms when local business Enchantments hosts its Witch’s Broom Craft Nights on Saturday, Oct and Oct. 10. During these enchanting evenings, guests will carry on the tradition of creating besoms, which were utilized to sweep away negativity, invite blessing and protect homes. Attendees will twist herbs, tie ribbons and inject a touch of their own magic to create one-of-a-kind brooms.

The cost to attend the broom making class is $50. Guests should reserve their spots in advance quickly as many classes have already been booked out.

Enchantments will also be getting into the spirit of a host of Halloween events later in October. The business will get right back to witchery with a Hocus Pocus Craft Night at 7 p.m. on Oct. 23 and for only $50 guests can enjoy a movie screening and witch hat crafting party with materials, wine and snacks included.

Not forgetting the little ones, Enchantments will host its Wee Witches Halloween Party from 1 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. on Oct. 25. For $35 per child, these miniature spell casters can enjoy an afternoon of crafts and potion making.

Adults can indulge in their own revelry at Enchantments later that night from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. for the Ghouls Night Out Wine and Soup Potluck. Entry is $15 with food or wine and guests can enjoy an evening of eerie fun, wicked cocktails and frightful food.

The third Annual Pumpkin Fest is set to return from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday. Nestled on the corner of West Lander and North Main Street in Historic Downtown Pocatello, the festival will feature over 50 local small businesses showcasing their handcrafted goods, hauntingly good treats, unique oddities and plenty of family friendly fun.

Entry to the event is free and guests can expect to sip on refreshing seasonal drinks, enter raffles for prizes and shop from a variety of local artisans and vendors.

Nason House of Hope is hosting its Family Fun Fall Festival from 12 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Saturday at the Mystic Gardens. Guests can enjoy a pumpkin painting and costume contest, bounce houses, food truck, silent auction and more.

The Pocatello Greenhouse is teaming up with Geraldine’s Bake Shoppe & Deli for a bit of autumnal magic when they attempt to set a world record for the most cookies made in an hour between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturday Guests can bring their kids for a bit of trick-or-treating, enjoy a variety of unique vendors and live music.

Household pets can also get in on the Halloween fun during Critterfest from 12 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Oct. 11 at Petsmart, located at 1880 Hurley Drive in Pocatello. Collaborating with local nonprofit Aiding 2 Adoption Rescue, guests can enjoy tasty foot trucks, professional pet photos from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., prizes, raffles and more. Entry into the pet costume contest is $5.

Pocatello’s premier haunted attraction, Delirium, is opening for the Halloween season at 805 N. Main St. The event kicks off Friday and runs Friday and Saturday evenings through Nov. 1. The attraction offers two different experiences for its visitors.

A kid-friendly, no scare walkthrough will be offered from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Oct. 18 and Oct. 25. Admission for the family-friendly option is $3 for ages up to 4 and $5 for ages 5 and older.

For those seeking a scary, heart-pounding experience, the full attraction runs from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday evenings from Oct. 3 through Nov 1. Additional Thursday night hours are scheduled for Oct. 23 and Oct. 30, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

General admission costs $15, with a student discount rate of $13 with valid student ID. A portion of the proceeds from Delirium will be donated to Greenacres Elementary School.

Delirium is also seeking food trucks and vendors for its upcoming zombie fun run and carnival on Oct.11. This fundraiser will help support Housing Alliance and Community Partnerships, Friends of the Children East Idaho and Delirium.

Area residents can delve into Deleta’s depths when Escape the Madhouse returns Oct.10 and every subsequent weekend until Nov. 1. The eerie escape room escapades start at 7:15 p.m. and run until 11 p.m. The madhouse will also be open on the last two Thursdays in the month of October and the final night on Nov. 1 features a blackout night with guests navigating with only a solitary flashlight between them. Cost for entry is $15 per person or $13.50 for students with ID.

Snake River Doodles Haunted Acre returns for four nights from 8 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Oct. 24, 25 and 31 with a special Krampus themed blackout night on Nov. 1. Suggested donation entry free is $5.

Community members are invited to step into the shadows of the Haunted Hollow Hauntatorium from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m. from Oct. 24 through Oct. 31. The family-friendly attraction provides a museum style journey through the eerie and unknown through a collection of chillingly creative displays that blend history, imagination, and frightful fun.

A fiendish frenzy of Trunk-or-Treat events will also be featured the entire month of October beginning with a spooky good time at Cardatello from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Oct 11.

Several Trunk or Treat events will be held closer to Halloween, including a Carl’s Coffee Trunk or Treat and Toys for Tots from 10 a.m. to noon on Oct. 19 at 910 Yellowstone Ave., and many on Oct. 25 that include Snake River Doodles seventh Annual Halloween Festival which runs from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., Nightmare on Elm Street & Trunk or Treat starting at 4 p.m. at 201 Jefferson Ave., Trunk or Treat with Cole Chevy from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. A special needs Trunk or Treat will be held from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. at the Portneuf District Library 5210 Stuart Ave.

A pair of Truck or Treat style events also run on Halloween day itself with Quinn Meadows Trunk or Treat at 5 p.m. at 1033 W. Quinn and Rocky Mountain Ministries Treat Street from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at 845 Hyde Ave.
