SHELLEY — Although the votes aren't official yet, Bingham County Clerk

Sara Staub said it appears that the Shelley-Firth Rural Fire District's

request for a $1.7 million bond to build a new fire department in Shelley

and upgrade the one in Firth passed on Tuesday night. The bond earned

earned 3,487 "Yes" votes, and 1,667 "No" votes. But the North Bingham

County District Library's request for a $2.5 million bond for a new

facility failed. It earned 3,164 votes for the bond, but 2,014 were

against it, so it didn't meet the required two-thirds majority.

If you live in Blackfoot you only need the State Fair. You don't need no stinking library. You can't have people pay to park in your front yard when they go to the library.
