POCATELLO — Chances are, if you have lived in the Gate City for awhile you have had the pleasure of experiencing the trails on the Portneuf Greenway Trail Foundation’s trail system.

Funding for the design, creation and maintenance of the trails has come through generous donations from the community, mainly through fundraising events including the annual Riverfest celebration.

Riverfest will be held Saturday, Aug. 17 from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. at Raymond Park in Pocatello. There will be live music by Sons of Bannock, Shawn and the Marauders, Blind Autumn, Galaxy Forest and the Clumsy Lovers.

In addition to the live music, there will be food vendors, beverages for sale, activities for the kids, and booths by various local merchants.

Those who purchase raffle tickets will have the chance to win one of two luxury trips. The first is a week for two at the Puerto Plata Resort in the Domincan Republic. The winner of this trip will stay in the presidential suite and receive the room and food for a week, as well as a $500 gift card for travel expenses. The trip is being donated to the foundation for the raffle by Ed and Marguerite Snell.

The second trip is a golf lover’s dream, because it includes a round of golf for two at the Coeur d’Alene resort golf course, the home of the world famous floating green. The course at the resort features a green that is movable, so even if you have golfed there before, it is a different course. The trip also includes two nights for two in a room at the resort anf a $250 gift card.

Raffle tickets are $5 for one, six for $25 or 25 for $100. You can buy them online at www.pgfweb.com or at the event until about 7 p.m.

A fat tire bike will also be raffled at the event. All funds will go toward the design and building of new trails.

Shawn Barnby, with Shawn and the Marauders is excited to be returning to this year’s event for a second year.

“I think it is a great event, there was good energy (at last year’s event),” he said.

The show will be one of the last for Marauders drummer Casey Johnson, who is going to college in California this fall. Johnson is a founding member of the group,

“It will be a special show,” Barnby added.
