Photo of Stolen Art Bench

IDAHO FALLS — Those with the Idaho Falls Arts Council are offering a $500 reward for information leading to the return of a stolen bench that was located on the greenbelt across from the Sandpiper Restaurant, 750 Lindsay Boulevard.

The artistic bench is shaped in the design of a gigantic red and white fishing lure and is believed to have been taken sometime this Tuesday night or Wednesday morning.

“I was heartsick to learn somebody has stolen that beautiful bench,” said Carrie Scheid, Art Bench Coordinator. “It was a personal favorite of mine. I especially loved sitting on the Sandpiper Deck in the evenings watching kids squeal with delight when they walked by it on the greenbelt.”

According to a news release, it looks as though the thieves used some sort of power tool to remove the bolts in order to steal the bench.

Anyone with information on the bench is being urged to contact the Idaho Falls Arts Council by dialing 522-0471, the City of Idaho Falls Parks and Recreation Department at 612-8480 or Crime Stoppers at 522-1983.
