POCATELLO — School resource officers are monitoring bus stops and administrators at Franklin Middle School remained on alert Tuesday, a day after two male suspects allegedly attempted to lure a 10-year-old boy into a passenger van.

    Pocatello police Lt. Paul Manning said police are on the lookout for the van, which is described as red with a yellow stripe, but no suspects have been identified.

    According to police reports Monday, the incident occurred at 8:25 a.m. in the 1500 block of Saratoga Street. The vehicle was occupied by two male suspects, one was wearing a leather jacket.

    The suspects attempted to entice the boy into the van with candy.

    Manning said during the second interview, the boy said the suspects did not exit the van or try to force him into the vehicle.

    Officers interviewed a bus driver and several kids at the scene none of whom saw the red van.

    As always, Manning said parents and kids should report any suspicious vehicles near bus stops and schools.

    “We just want everyone to be vigilant,” Manning said.

    The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information about the incident, the van, or the two suspects is urged to call the Pocatello Police at 234-6100.
