The Pocatello and Idaho Falls police departments have invited their communities to join their upcoming National Night Out events, which will be held next week.

The Pocatello event will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4, at Lookout Point, according to a news release from the Pocatello Police Department. It is an annual, community-building campaign that promotes partnerships between law enforcement, first responders, local organizations, businesses and residents.

People who attend the event will have the opportunity to meet the people who serve their communities while enjoying family-friendly activities.

There will be something for people of all ages at the National Night Out, such as emergency service vehicles, police K-9 demonstrations, SWAT and specialty unit displays, interactive activities for children, community organization and business booths, and food vendors.

Community organizations, businesses, nonprofits and public safety partners will be on hand sharing resources, educational materials and information about their services. Attendees are encouraged to visit multiple booths and participate in various activities to learn more about the organizations working together to keep the community safe.

Pocatello Police Cpl. Morgan Hansen said everyone at the police department is excited for everything planned for this year’s National Night Out, such as the food trucks, live entertainment from the Comedy Club and the 6 p.m. performance by singer Josh Langston.

“Our goal is to strengthen relationships with our community in a fun and welcoming environment,” Hansen said. “National Night Out is a great opportunity for families to learn more about the services available in our community, connect with local organizations, and get to know the officers who proudly serve Pocatello.”

The Idaho Falls National Night Out will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4, at Tautphaus Park on the green space near Fountain View Drive and Rogers Street, according to a news release from the Idaho Falls Police Department.

Visitors to this event will include the Patrol Bureau, the SWAT team, the K-9 unit, the drone team, the Idaho Falls Region 7 Bomb Squad, Crime Scene Investigations and dispatch officers.

Fixxology will be at the Idaho Falls National Night Out. There will be free drinks for the first 350 people.

National Night Out is always a popular event with children and families in Idaho Falls. It is a good opportunity for education and building relationships with the community.

Idaho Falls Police Public Information Officer Jessica Clements said National Night Out is one of the department’s most popular nights of the year and that it has something to interest people of all ages.

“It’s a one-stop-shop to see all the cool elements of police work right up close and to talk with real police officers serving in our community every day,” Clements said. “K9s, drones, SWAT, bomb squad ... if you have an interest in anything police related, come see it at National Night Out.”
