POCATELLO — Police have arrested 26-year-old Anthony Blake Viles of Pocatello and charged him with Felony injury to a child after he allegedly beat his six-year-old son so severely Thursday, that the boy is currently at the Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City on life support.
“Should the boy succumb to his injuries, the charges against his father will be upgraded and a press conference may be held at that time,” Pocatello Police Support Services Officer Dianne Brush said.
The boy’s biological mother lives in Washington with her husband, but is traveling to Salt Lake City to be with her son.

This is such a sad story, only a few short months ago this child was living with a loving foster family in Washington state. He was moved to Idaho to live with his father who was awarded custody of him. The flaw in the system is that no one is looking out for the best interest of the child, they are instead looking for speedy movement out of such system. Afton, was an adorable and sweet boy. He needed people around him who understood him and knew how to deal with an energetic and charismatic boy. Just because you can conceive a child doesn't mean that you are ment to be a parent. My family is so sickened by the loss of this sweet child and also very thankful for the time we knew him. May god hold the hand of every child who is stricken with abusive and neglectful parents, guide and comfort them to a life of fullness and peace, and protect them from harm.
GOD BLESS THIS BABY...he is in our prayers....the max for these people in our state of idaho is only 10 years max,,, our grand baby was hurt last january and the guy that did it is still sitting in county jail (15 months)sentencing will be april 23rd at bannock county courthouse 1 pm.. please keep these precious little ones safe....my heart aches for your family. i hope he will recover fast from this horrible incident

I hope and pray that sweet little boy survives. Even if he doesn't, the charges still should be raised for that awful dad. Come on people! He tried to kill his son!
