POCATELLO —  President of the Pocatello chapter of the Oathkeepers, Mike Chism, had just begun hosting his own live radio show when an accident took him off the air last Friday afternoon.

    Chism was hospitalized for injuries he received when he was struck by a vehicle while riding his bicycle on South Fourth Avenue where it intersects with Rose Street near the Ross Park Pocatello Visitor’s Center. According to his wife, Tana, Mike suffered three broken ribs, a cracked vertebrae and arm abrasions in the accident.

    “They drug him onto Rose Street before they stopped,” Tana said. “They didn’t even get out of the truck to see if he was OK.”

    Witnesses in the Ross Park area provided assistance until emergency responders arrived and Chism was taken to Portneuf Medical Center by ambulance.

    Tana said it will be a few weeks before her husband is ready to get behind a microphone again.

    “He’s in a lot of pain,” she said.

    The accident remains under investigation by the Pocatello Police Department.
