MERIDIAN — Police are investing a suspected murder-suicide at a home in the 2200 block of Horse Creek Court in Meridian, a city near Boise. 

Upon entry, police said they found the bodies of a 46-year-old man and 36-year-old woman in the master bathroom, both of whom suffered gunshot wounds. The man and woman are believed to have been dating, Meridian Deputy Police Chief Tracy Basterrechea told the Idaho Press.

The positioning of the body and where the weapon was discovered indicates the man shot the woman and then himself, Basterrechea said.

Police responded to the residence around 1 p.m. Thursday after being contacted by a witness who had gone to the home to check on a friend who missed work.

Identification of the individuals and their cause of death will be released by the Ada County Coroner's Office.
