Most Republican incumbent lawmakers in Southeast Idaho retained their seats in Tuesday's primary.

District 28 incumbent state Rep. Richard Cheatum, R-Pocatello, secured 2,823 votes to retain his seat against challenges from Republicans James Lamborn and Mike Saville, who received 2,343 votes and 1,897 votes respectively. There are no Democrats in the race.

District 28 state Rep. Dan Garner, R-Clifton, received 3,890 votes to retain his seat against a challenge from Republican Kirk Jackson, who received 3,115 votes. Garner will face off against Democrat Jayson Meline in November.

District 28 state Sen. Jim Guthrie, R-McCammon, had no primary opponent on Tuesday but will battle Democratic challenger Russell Matter in November.

District 30 state Sen. Julie VanOrden, R-Pingree, received 4,765 votes to retain her seat against a challenge from Republican Jerry Truth Bingham, who received 2,782 votes. VanOrden will face Democrat Karen Keith in November.

District 30 state Rep. David Cannon, R-Blackfoot, received 3,960 votes to retain his seat against a challenge from Republican Josh Sorensen, who got 3,456 votes. There are no Democrats in the race.

District 30 House candidate Ben Fuhriman received 3,763 votes against Republican incumbent Rep. Julianne Young, R-Blackfoot, who got 3,753 votes. Fuhriman will take on Democrat Breane Buckingham in November.

District 35 state Sen. Mark Harris, R-Soda Springs, received 5,033 votes to retain his seat against a challenge from Republican Doug Toomer, who got 3,052 votes. Democrat Chris Riley will face off against Harris in November.

District 35 state Rep. Josh Wheeler, R-Ammon, received 5,048 votes to retain his seat against a challenge from Republican Brett Skidmore, who got 3,044 votes. Wheeler will face Democrat Maggie Shaw in November.

District 35's other state representative, Republican Kevin Andrus of Lava Hot Springs, had no primary opponent but will face off against Democratic candidate Joseph Messerly in November.

There were no primary races in District 29. State Sen. James Ruchti, D-Pocatello, has no Republican opponent in November. District 29 state Rep. Nate Roberts, D-Pocatello, will face Republican Tanya Burgoyne in November while state Rep. Dustin Manwaring, R-Pocatello, is facing a challenge from Democrat Mary Shea.
