A Belgrade woman who had been missing for weeks has returned to the area and is safe, law enforcement reported.

According to the Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office, 32-year-old Michaela Douglas, who had been missing since Oct. 2, walked into the Manhattan Police Department around 6 p.m. Saturday.

Sheriff Brian Gootkin said the investigation into her disappearance is still ongoing, but there is no threat to the public.

Douglas was reported missing by family on the morning of Oct 4. She had last been seen two days prior in the area of Frontage Road and Four Dot Lane west of Belgrade. Her family reported that she didn’t have a vehicle or cellphone with her.

Since her disappearance, Capt. Jason Jarrett said in addition to sheriff’s office investigators working with family, friends and tips from the public, Gallatin County Search and Rescue volunteers performed searches with dog teams, kayaks, ground crews and drones.
