POCATELLO — The Pocatello Unitarian Universalist Fellowship is inviting the community to join a three-part series exploring the moral and religious duty to support transgender individuals.

The first session is set for 9:30 a.m. Sunday at the fellowship’s meeting house at 426 W. Lewis St. in Pocatello. It will address the “current organized political attack against trans people in the United States, where it came from, and what is motivating it,” according to a fellowship news release.

The second session will be held on March 8 and the third session on March 22, both at 9:30 a.m. at the fellowship’s meeting house.

Materials for the series were provided by the Transforming Hearts Collective, an organization of transgender and nonbinary faith leaders that supports healing, resilience and spirituality for transgender people. The organization also resources faith communities and other groups in the work of radical inclusion and cultural change.

“As your community Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, we are committed to welcoming people of every sexual orientation and gender identity,” the fellowship’s news release said. “We do the work of honoring all our differences while rooted in our common ground.”

The public can attend the sessions in person at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship meeting house.

Jim Mariani and the Rev. Jenny Peek will co-facilitate the series.

“Unitarian Universalism is a faith of many paths, without doctrine,” the news release said. “We practice reverent reasoning and courageous doubt.”
